In this gorgeous coming-of-age story, 11-year-old Ruth (nicknamed Red) sets out from her home in Milwaukee on a journey to Cumberland Island, Georgia. There are wild horses there and she’s determined to see them – even if it means embarking on a cross-country trip alone, without notifying her parents. Along the way, she encounters some hostile locals, a new friend or two, and even a big bad wolf-like creeper. Beautifully shot, this life-affirming indie won the top prize for best narrative feature at the Great Lakes International Film Festival.
Director Tate Bunker is scheduled to attend the Nov. 16 screening
