McKeesport-born photographer Duane Michals is witty and cheerful at 81 years old. We follow him as he revisits his favorite places: Pittsburgh, the industrial steel town of his childhood and his earliest discoveries; New York, the city where he has lived for many years with his partner; and Vermont, for its natural beauty and changing seasons. Michals made his mark in contemporary art with series photography – photos that tell a story, often incorporating handwritten texts. His work balances gravity and humor with emblematic themes of love, desire, death and immortality. This beautiful film is as vibrant as he still is. A book signing follows at Concept Art Gallery.
